One Region. One Community.
How we bring the region together. And how you can be part of it.
Speaker Events
We host speaker events every month featuring professionals from across the cybersecurity industry. It's a chance to hear how the job actually works from the people doing it.
CyberForge
CyberForge is our flagship 2-day conference and Capture the Flag competition that we hold every calendar year. In partnership with industry partners, it is a weekend where the whole region shows up.
Community
The CVCSA connects cybersecurity clubs from across the Hampton Roads under one shared community. Whichever campus you're on, you're part of the same network.
Leadership
CVCSA exists because students like us step up to lead it. If you are interested in helping to plan events, grow member clubs, or help lead CyberForge. Reach out to us on Discord to learn how to apply.
What is the goal of the CVCSA? Here is the answer.
The goal of the CVCSA is to build and expand networking opportunities and technical skills across Hampton Roads, through hands-on experience, speaker events, and community events. We aim to connect students from every campus in the region, giving them the tools, connections, and real-world experience to launch a career in cybersecurity.
Why we started? And why we will continue moving forward.
Students learn the fundamentals in class, then run into job listings asking for three to five years of experience for an "entry-level" role. Campus clubs have tried to close that gap on their own, but most operate with limited resources, and no two clubs approach the problem the same way. In 2020, students from Old Dominion University, Christopher Newport University, and Tidewater Community College came up with the idea during a regional competition to create an organization to support existing clubs, not compete with them. Today, CVCSA partners with cybersecurity clubs and the Hampton Roads with industry leaders to share events and bring students from every campus into one community. Read the full ODU article.
