Coastal Virginia Cybersecurity Student Association
Who Are We?
A REGIONAL STUDENT ASSOCIATION DESIGNED TO EXPAND NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES AND TECHNICAL SKILLS THROUGH ENGAGING EXPERIENCES WITH THE GOAL OF AN IMPROVED WORKFORCE.
Motivation for CVCSA
Cybersecurity has a barrier for entry.
Students often experience a skills gap between what they learn in school and listed job requirements. Entry-level jobs often require three to five years of experience.
University cybersecurity clubs make an effort to close this gap but have limited resources and vary widely in their approach and governance.
The Coastal Virginia Cybersecurity Student Association aims to bolster these exisiting organizations by partnering with them to provide shared events and make students at different colleges part of a single community.
How Does it Work?
A chartered student organization providing cybersecurity related events
Learning pathways providing students with a CVCSA endorsed path to knowledge
Establishes common standards and practices for member clubs and sanctioned competitions
Focus on engagement and networking
